Wander Through My Week #6

Ahhh so sorry for neglecting my blog! Between getting an eye stitch removed and then spending days without internet (damn router broke), I’ve been living ‘off the radar’ which has been nice in some respects I guess. Okay, okay…it’s been a nightmare but I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation here. Here’s what I’ve been up to without my beloved internet at home (it’s fixed now – yay!!) and I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead with reliable, high-speed internet access.

Eye Stitch Removal

I was sitting watch some of my favourite Youtubers when I felt this really sharp shooting pain up the left side of my face. I’ve experienced this countless times before, but it’s never been this intense and painful. Deciding not to panic, I assumed it would just be another stitch that needed removed from my eye and called the hospital.

Eye stitches literally live in a world of their own. Unlike other stitches, they don’t have a ‘set date’ to be removed. Instead, the stitches decide when they want to jump ship, so to speak. There are no warning signs, so as soon as pain kicks in and I’m struggling to open my eye, I know it’s time.

My surgeon is incredible. He always tell me to call the hospital immediately if there are any problems and he’ll make sure I’m seen the same day, even at weekends. Thankfully, most of the time it has been due to loose stitches but you can never be too careful. So, on a beautiful sunny after in Glasgow, I was sitting in a hospital waiting room counting down the seconds until the stitch and I had parted ways.

Within thirty minutes, the stitch was gone. Eye stitches are removed using a needle, tweezers and a very steady hand. I’m basically told to imagine a clock on the wall, look at a certain time and within seconds, it’s all over. It makes most people a bit squeamish but I’m used to it and honestly, the relief is instant.

Mini Lush Haul

Even though I still have a ridiculous amount of stuff from my Lush Boxing Day shopping spree, I was in the mood to treat myself to some new bath bombs. I picked up a Big Blue which is one of my favourites (particularly during the summer months as it reminds me of the ocean) and one that I have never tried, Lava Lamp.

I also bought a tub of Rub Rub Rubrecommended to me by the one of the staff members, who was surprisingly on my wave-length (I tend to find Lush staff members a bit much, particularly first thing in the morning). I’ve been looking for a new scrub for so long (I’m really picky about body scrubs) and after she tested a little on my hand, I was instantly sold. Have a funny feeling this will be in my Beauty Favourites: June because it makes my skin so soft and ah, I can’t get enough of it.

We’re off to San Francisco!

My younger sister loves entering competitions. To be honest, I was always a bit sceptical and wondered if people actually won these ‘once in a lifetime’ trips/prizes. It seems too good to be true when most of the time all it takes is the click of a button. Over the years, she’s won some pretty cool prizes (a few of which I’ve benefited from) but I can’t believe she won this!

My sister won an all expenses paid five night trip to San Francisco for 2!  I’ve always wanted to walk across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge so I can tick that off my bucket list soon (far too excited!). It’s more of an adventure holiday and there’s a few different things we’ll be doing which will kick my ass; pushing me right out of my comfort zone but wow, this will definitely be ‘once in a lifetime’.

We’ll be going next year  (we are just waiting to hear from the travel company to get everything booked) but I can’t wait. I needed something to look forward to and it doesn’t get much better than a free trip to San Francisco, does it?!

That’s been my week in a nutshell! What have been the highlights of your week?
