Hey! Hope everyone has had a great week.! Finally, Scotland has been getting some sunshine! During the week the weather was amazing but of course then the weekend came and the clouds gathered. It’s not been a particularly eventful week (minus a couple of appointments and an incident with me, my dog & some concrete steps – recipe for disaster!). Anyway, here is some of my highs (and lows) of the week just gone.
Addicted to The OC (Again!)
I loved The OC at University and I remember countless nights that my flatmates and I would have OC marathons. As soon as one season was over, we were rushing out to buy the next. It has been years since I have watched The OC and I recently had the urge to throw on the first disc of season one and watch a couple of episodes, nothing more. Yeah, it didn’t work out like that – I’m sucked in now! I love Sandy Cohen so if I was to have any OC eye candy, he would be it! I completely forgot about characters such as Oliver, Anna and Luke (he really is like a big golden retriever, haha!).
Dinner & Cocktails
On Saturday night I met up with one of my best friends for dinner and cocktails. We decided to go to one of our favourite places, Barca, in Princes Square, Glasgow. It is a really nice tapas restaurant and they offer such a unique range of cocktails that you can’t really find in any of the other cocktail bars here (as well as being able to rustle up old favourites!). I love going to Barca, it always makes me think about being a nice restaurant abroad and for just a while, rainy Glasgow is miles away!
We had 3 tapas dishes each and I choose: Secreto de Pollo y Limon (Chicken strips with chilli, lemon and saffron), Manchego Frito (Mild cheese fritters with smoked tomato relish) & Croquetas de Pollo y Jamon (Roast Chicken & Ham croquettes with Romesco Sauce). Each one was so delicious but I loved the cheese fritters (you NEVER get enough relish though!)
Dessert was Churros and the caramel dip was so good. My favourite cocktail of the evening was their Valencian Mojito (hey to my #ltbloggers #MOJITO girls!!) – Havana Especial, Licor 43 and Absolut Mandarin muddled with mint, sugar and freshly squeezed orange. It was really strong but mint and orange, great combination! (Sorry about the pic quality on that one!) Had such a fun evening!
Remembering Christopher Lee
I was so sad to hear that Christopher Lee had passed away. He has always been one of my favourite actors (before and after Lord of the Rings) and the man led such an amazing life. Peter Jackson said ‘He was a true gentleman, in an era that no longer values gentlemen.’ and I agree with this wholeheartedly. RIP Christopher Lee.
