Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer

For me, shopping for a good concealer is like shopping in TK Maxx: rummaging in desperation, holding onto the hope that something catches your eye and is the perfect fit. I love shopping for make up but I will be honest and say that shopping for concealers is my pet hate – I just don’t enjoy it at all! Sadly though, I’m 30 and having spent 8 years studying at university, the dark bags have set up camp under my eyes and finding a good concealer is vital!

I was in Boots a few weeks ago (before my blog even started) and yep, I was seduced by another 3 for 2 offer so I picked up the Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer (£5.49) in shade 10 Porcelain which is a decent match for me. I really like Rimmel foundations (another day, another blog post) and I had high hopes for this concealer. Rimmel states that it will hide dark circles, blemishes and other imperfections for up to 25 hours. The formula is also breathable which makes it not only long lasting, but comfortable to wear. Sounds pretty good to me! Does it do what it says on the tin? Here’s what I think…

First of all, I’m going to do my little mini rant again and say that I really don’t like these claims of lasting up to 25 hours! I would never wear my concealer that long and I just think it is a little unnecessary. Maybe it’s a good selling point – I don’t know – but it means nothing at all to me. Yes, I want my make up to last but be realistic! The concealer itself is available in three shades and more could easily be added to the range, particularly for darker skin tones.

Apologies for that, haha! The pot itself is fine, it’s handy for travelling and fits nicely into my make up bag.The formula itself is really waxy and creamy which might not be to everyone’s taste but I don’t personally mind it. It warms quickly and easily between your fingers and this makes the application process a lot easier.

I really like using this concealer under my eyes: it gives good coverage, (not 100%, maybe closer to 85%)  doesn’t sink into lines or wrinkles and really brightens my under eye area. Once I have warmed it between my fingers, I dab gently under my eyes and then use my Beauty Blender Micro Mini to really blend it in. This concealer blends really easily and I do like the finish. For a drugstore product, I think this is a really decent under eye concealer and during the day, I would happily use this.
As for using on blemishes or any other imperfections, this concealer isn’t really for me. With the brightness it gives, I would only use this under my eyes and applying it with my fingers, I’m drawn to pat it under my eyes as opposed to anywhere else on my face!
Overall, I think it is good value for money but I am still on the hunt for a really good high end concealer that ticks all the boxes. However, I do think Rimmel have done a great job with this concealer and if you are looking for a drugstore under eye concealer, pop this into your basket next time you are out shopping!

Completely agree with you about the claims lasting 25 hours or however many hours, I just want my make up to stay put for a few hours not day! I really want to try this concealer, though I stick to the wand concealers usually!

I keep meaning to pick this up and try it, I saw it in store but I thought it just looked really hard and not very workable. I wish I'd actually picked it up and had a go with it now!
