OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo, Conditioner & Serum

Is there any beauty blogger out there who can resist a 3 for 2 on make up, skincare or haircare? I know I personally can’t. One thing I love about Boots (that’s a drugstore here in the UK to any readers who may not be familiar) aside from their Advantage Card (seriously, if you don’t have one, get one) is the fact that they forever have 3 for 2 offers on. So when I saw one for haircare, I simply couldn’t resist making a purchase. Did I need to? No. Did I want to? YES!

Whilst browsing the aisles, I spotted OGX products. That is the first thing I will say: the shampoo and conditioner bottles stand out like a sore thumb, but in a very good way. The shape of the bottles are so eye catching –  bonus points to OGX for grabbing my attention. When I spotted the Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner,  I knew a purchase was going to be made instantly. The shampoo and conditioner are both 385ml at £6.99 each and the serum is 118ml at £6.99 from Boots. (Relevant links can be found at the bottom)
Since it was 3 for 2, the serum was coming along as well. My hair was going to get some serious coconut love and my nose was going to love it too! That was the plan. Did it live up to expectations? You better read on…
I will start with the shampoo and conditioner. As I mentioned before, love the shape and design of these bottles. I actually like the description of the bottle that’s placed on the front: coconut milk nourishing your hair, with whipped egg proteins adding strength and elasticity and coconut oils giving hydration and balance. They really don’t fail on any of these fronts. Both the shampoo and conditioner smell beautiful. Infact, I would go further than that and say they are the best smelling shampoo and conditioner my nose has ever had the pleasure of sniffing! Coconut lovers everywhere: you will adore these two.  I have really fine hair and I particularly enjoyed the thick, creamy conditioner. My hair was left feeling clean, soft, shiny and hydrated (oh and smelling of coconuts – yummy!). I have been using them both a LOT and they are still going strong! I will definitely repurchase these.
After using the shampoo and conditioner on their own (I wanted to test them properly without any other product) I couldn’t wait to wash my hair again and give the serum a go. I have really tried to love this serum and tested it a few times (it smells divine too!) but for me, it was a bit of a let down. I was so excited to try a coconut smelling anti breakage serum and took one pump amount (about pea sized) into the palm of my hands and worked it through, concentrating on the ends.  Each and every time I have used this, it has made my hair feel greasy and really weighed down to the point I have either had to rewash my hair or tie it back (neither of which I really enjoy doing). I might be one of those weird people who loves blow drying their hair, but this made it more of a chore. I’ve honestly tried to get on with this product but it is just not agreeing with my hair at all. Such a pity!

I've tried the shampoo and conditioner too and I'm a huge fan. Anything coconut, vanilla or Shea butter scented and I'm all over it, I loved these products but when I used them for a couple of weeks I found they were too nourishing – I know, I'm such a diva, but I wash my hair 2-3 times a week and after a while I had to do it every other day. I now only use them occasionally and I love them, they're just not my holy grail.

      Hey Sarah!

I'm the exact same with anything coconut scented! I've been using these for a while and haven't found them too nourishing but when it comes to haircare, I love trying new things too. I will always have this shampoo and conditioner because I love the smell but there is so much on my haircare shopping list too! I think I will use these a lot this summer – making me smell all tropical, haha!

I haven't tried this particular range from Ogx, but I have use their moroccan argan oil (I think that's what it's called) and loved it! It's similar to a serum-type product, but it didn't make my hair feel greasy or weighed down at all! Maybe you should try that one in conjunction with the coconut shampoo/conditioner and see how you get on with it 🙂

I do like this range, although I've never tried the serum. Guess I won't be after your review as I have fine hair and it will definitely weigh it down then…!

It just didn't agree with my hair at all which is such a shame because it smells so good!

You really should try, they smell as amazing as the serum, i'm just really disappointed my hair didn't like the serum but I'm going to give it to a friend x

Thanks for commenting! If you love coconut you will really like the shampoo and conditioner – I'm a huge fan! I really wish the serum had worked better because it smells so good – I find myself just sniffing it whenever I'm going through my products!

I adore coconut hair products but my coconut herbal essences hasn't been hitting the spot lately, may have to give these a go
