My Beauty Box Swap: New Zealand

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post for months! I love watching unboxing videos on Youtube and I was really excited to start doing Beauty Box Swaps to get my hands on some goodies that I might not be able to get in the UK (or if i can, to get them at a better price!). I’ve been planning this particular swap with a girl in New Zealand for months and my goodies finally arrived over the festive season! I’m really excited to share what I got with you!

I put a post in a Box Swap group on Facebook (there are plenty of them) and that’s where I met my swapping buddy. We agreed to set a budget of about £70 but it ended up slightly over.  It’s a lot of money so communication is definitely key. We also sent each other photos of our goodies wrapped and boxes coming together over the months as well as sending photos of the finished parcels ready for posting and postage receipts. I was nervous to be honest but the girl I swapped with was lovely and had a great reputation in the group (something I look for when doing swaps)

Anyway, we agreed on two high end products and the rest drugstore! We told each other what kind of shades we liked and items we were particularly keen to try (I can never have enough lip products) so here is what I was lucky enough to get. I know some of these I could get in the UK but during our chats they were brands/products I mentioned I had my eye on I was completely and utterly spoiled.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette & Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush
Jordana Lipstick in 011 Cabaret, Jordana Lipstick in 64 Fruity Punch, L.A Girls Matte Pigment Gloss in Playful, Fifth Avenue Gloss Stick in Mistress & Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in Noo-d Fighters

L.A Girl Eyeshadow Collection Nudes, Chi Chi Eyeshadow (Baby Blue, Blue Steel, Caribbean Lover, Sugar Daddy), NV Chunky Crayon – Purple & L.A Colours 16 Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Sweet
L.A Girl Eyeshadow Collection Nudes & L.A Colours 16 Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Sweet
Top: L.A Girl Blush Collection, W7 Multi Bronzing Face Powder in Africa, Blush QXX & Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Blush in Shoot to Thrill

Nude by Nature Double Ended Face Brush, Avon Face Brush & W7 Power Puff
Goodness Every Morning Moisturiser, Eos Lip Balm in Tangerine & Creamy Vanilla Body Scrub

There was also a large selection of sweets (Note: Salted Caramel Tim Tams are amazing) and a range of skin, hair and make up samples which I’m looking forward to trying. More importantly, I’ve made a lovely new friend and I’m looking forward to doing our next swap soon! In the meantime, I am doing other swaps with girls in France, USA and Australia – swapping addict!

This is a great idea and you got sent some lovely stuff!
Do you send each other pics and get to see what you'll be receiving beforehand or is it a complete surprise?

I love it! It is so much fun and a great way to meet new people from other countries. Of course, you have to be very careful who you swap with. We sent each other pics of our goodies wrapped up so we had no idea what we getting. We had a really long chat about shades we both liked, items we were both looking for and if there were any specific brands we were looking to try – I love it!

      Hey hun!

Ugh, that's awful! I joined some Facebook groups and I look for people that have a good swapping reputation, have good communication etc and that puts my mind at ease. For each and every swap I do we take photos of how the box looks, postal receipts etc because when you are doing larger swaps, it becomes an expensive hobby!

I was so spoiled by my New Zealand friend! Makes it feel like Christmas every month, haha!

      Thanks for commenting 🙂

I love the idea of a swap, especially since I live in a country where many brands are not available (such as Tarte, UD, Too Faced, etc) !

Looking forward to the rest of your box swap posts!

      Hi Diana,

That's one of the reasons I love swapping! It is great getting my hands on brands that I can't get here (Why do we still not have a Sephora??!) and there are some brands we can get here that are cheaper abroad which is always nice!

Glad you enjoyed this post as it was my first swap post and I'm looking forward to receiving more goodies to write the rest!

This sounds like such a fab idea – I love picking up makeup abroad (*cough* Sephora *cough*) so could easily get behind something like this. Maybe not on that budget though!

Hey Lis! How are things with you?!

Haha, why do we still not have a Sephora??!! Seriously, it drives me crazy! The budget was a little on the high side and there is no way every swap I do is having as such a high budget. A girl has got to eat…!!

Wow so many nice things! I love the naked basics palette, it looks so nice. I cannot wait to see the other swaps you will do! xx

      Hey lovely!

I love the Naked Palette and I didn't have this one but I can't bring myself to use it yet, haha. I sit and look at it all pretty and perfect! I'm forever cleaning my eyeshadow palettes after use to try and keep them all 'new looking' although sometimes that is an epic fail! Is it only me that does that??!!

Oh wow, you got a lot of amazing products! It's always fun to try out products by brands you've never heard of. Some might even become your favorite.
